It’s several dreams really. Every few years, I have a crazy dream where Anthony Kiedis (of Red Hot Chili Peppers fame) and I save the world. At least one time it was from an alien invasion and another time it was from crazed carnival workers and attendees who were being turned into murderers after drinking something. I have no idea why my brain chose him to be my partner in saving the world, but brains are weird things.
Since being diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in 2024, I’m very passionate about raising funds for the American Cancer Society. I’m thankful to be in remission, but encourage everyone to get a colonoscopy from age 45 on. I was 46 when diagnosed.
Wow, that is difficult to answer. My personal faves are watching the Dead Weather in the rain in New Orleans, seeing Pearl Jam at Jazz Fest, and seeing Gary Clark Jr. for the first time at Farm.
First international trip, went to Ireland
Black drip – basic, bitter, and all the caffeine
Probably either “One” by Metallica (1st concert) or “American Pie” by Don McLean (wore that album out in High School). A large portion of Tom Petty’s discography would fit the bill, too. I love music.
What is a day off, lol?
Constantly – I love to laugh and joke around.
Oil lamps? Bitters? Books? Take your pick.
On NYE heading into 2025, my girlfriend and I prepared the traditional meal of black-eyed peas, collards, cornbread and ham before heading to the bar so it would be ready when we woke up on New Years Day. When we got home from celebrating (completely sauced to say the least) I remembered that there was a family of raccoons with 3 babies living in the storm drain by our house. I decided to make them a plate of the good luck meal and placed it in front of the drain and watched from the window drunkenly to see if they would eat it. Around 4am I saw a little hand reach out and drag the plate into the sewer and giddily wished them a Happy New Year!
Kayaking through a bioluminescent bay. The skies were clear above the nature preserve that night so we could vividly see the Milky Way above us while the bioluminescence below us created its own galaxy. It was #2 on my bucket list and there are no words to describe that experience.
Cookout Tray- BBQ Sandwich cheddar style with double corndogs as the side and a huge tea. Plus a large order of cheese bites and a peanut butter banana milkshake!
The best thing I’ve crossed off of my bucket list, honestly was paying off my car. It was a major accomplishment for me and I can comfortably say, I never want another car payment AGAIN.
My favorite way to spend my day off, especially during the summer. I will take the ride up to Danbury and tube down the Dan River. It’s always been one of my favorite ways to relax.
My most memorable concert experience was back in 2008, I had just finished my High School AP Art Final and immediately got in the car and drove to Raliegh to see Radiohead. I was so tired, during the opening song I passed out. Everyone I was with freaked out…. BUT I RECOVERED! I was reasonably stable the rest of the show. True bucket list show for me :)
My favorite board game is a split between monopoly and chess. I like the concept of monopoly and how the game itself plays but the strategy and forethought behind chess is something other games don’t have.
I have never been one for nicknames but I have a few nicknames that I go by. My alter ego in the video game world is JAM. This one was simple it’s my initials and in my gamertag so people just started calling me JAM and it has stuck (I’ll never be able to change my gamertag because of it). The other is Bubba, my little sister couldn’t pronounce my name when we were younger and about the only thing she could get out properly was Bubba so everyone in my family started calling me by that name.
This is a tough question because I’m a foodie however, the short answer is probably a good home cooked Korean meal from my dad and grandma. To include but not limited to bulgogi, fried rice, yaki mandu, gimbap, tteok-bokki, and kimchi.
I have a couple of keystone accomplishments that I hold in the same regard. My first is, I was in the US Navy for a few years straight out of high school. Doing this type of job is not for the weak at hard and only select people can say they were in the military. My second I is graduating college. It took me a while to do but once I finished I hold it in the same regard as the other major milestones in my life.
I went to Panama City with my best friend and we spontaneously went skydiving.
My favorite way to spend a day off is with my dogs and my girlfriend. Maybe a hike? Or a rainy day binge watching and rotting on the couch together :)
I’d most like to live in the video game Ark Survival! As terrifying as it would be, it would be such a cool experience.
The last thing I have crossed off my bucket list is Becoming a cat lady. I am the proud servant of 11 cats that I rescued and serving them is divine.
My favorite board game is Cranium.
An unexpected life lesson I have learned is Life Goes On.
My fictional character I would like to have as a best friend is Falcor.
