It’s all about learning how to see…
Besides fine art, my productions have included murals, fiction and textbook illustrations, calendars, greeting cards, custom ceramic tiles, and many other creative projects. For the past ten years, my passion has been pastels, because of their light and color translucencies, and their emotive qualities.
I paint with enthusiasm and powered by excitement, and my hope is that people who see my work will be able to sense those qualities, and enjoy viewing them as much as I did creating them.
Tatyana Dyakonov
Tatyana studied art with the renowned artist Jane Filer, who inspired her to explore the vibrant world of fantasy. Tatyana is fascinated by historical architecture and likes to compose paintings from imagination.
For example, one of her paintings, Snowy Street depicts a city in the beginning of the 19th century reconstructed from the old photograph. Not having people on the streets in most of her urban paintings “makes me think that I own the place”.
Tatyana not only paints fantastical architectural scenes, like the one of West Jefferson, she is also a master of still life and performing figures.
Phyllis Sharpe
My time in the studio is a form of spiritual practice; I find peace and serenity in painting. The hours at the easel deepen my connection to life that emerges with color and light onto the canvas. It is among my greatest joys to effectively communicate my experiences in the visual medium of painting.
The gray and brown of the trees, the warm greens and beige of the land, the multi-colored spectrum reflected in the ocean, and the rich blue skies with their fluffy clouds evoke connections to Earth, this planet we call home, and to our deepest essence.
Hollis Gabriel
Growing up in New York, Hollis Gabriel had in-depth exposure to the classical arts during one of the most exciting periods of the NYC art scene. 24 years in New Orleans strengthened her love of the living arts: architecture, history, color, music, dance and food. 20 years of teaching provided the opportunity to share the arts with students who didn’t have these experiences in their lives.
In 2015, after a devastating family tragedy, life shifted and she turned to painting. She looked to the process of creating colorful and joyful art to heal her broken heart. Hollis now finds herself in a mindful, calming place where her heart can continue to heal.
